Celebrating 20 Years Of Coaching

Celebrating 20 Years of Coaching

20 years. It’s hard to believe that two full decades have passed since Coach Cody first opened the doors of his coaching business — then called Endurance Performance Coaching — and began helping cyclists and triathletes chase big goals with structured plans, smart training, and genuine passion. What began in late 2005 as a bold leap into the coaching world has grown, evolved, and transformed countless times… Yet the mission has never changed: help athletes discover what they’re capable of.

As we roll into 2026, we’re proud to celebrate 20 years of coaching—two decades of endurance, evolution, and community.

Where It All Started

In 2006, Coach Cody launched his coaching practice with a focus on multi-sport athletes—cyclists, triathletes, and anyone hungry for structured endurance training. The foundation was built on Cody’s deep love for sport, fascination with data-driven performance, and desire to help athletes harness their potential.

A few years in, the business began to shift—first toward a stronger cycling emphasis and eventually toward what has become Waite Endurance’s specialty today: off-road cycling coaching, specifically junior XCO development and masters endurance racing.

But the path from then to now was anything but linear—just like any good endurance journey.

The Trainer Series Years: A Community Staple

For the first 15 years of the business, the winter months belonged to a signature program: the Trainer Series, a coach-led, group training tradition in Denver.

What began in small fitness studios grew to sessions at Wheat Ridge Cyclery, then to city recreation centers, and ultimately landed at a new home: Sessions:6 Sport Performance, the gym/trainer studio created and run by Cody and his wife, Kathy Waite.

For eight years, Sessions:6 was the home of the Trainer Series—24 weeks of hard work, community, sweat, and winter training camaraderie that became a beloved ritual for cyclists across the Front Range. The curriculum built through those winter programs eventually evolved into the popular Base Builder Training Plans—now best-sellers on the TrainingPeaks platform and downloaded by athletes around the world.

The Trainer Series didn’t just build fitness. It built friendships, community, and the foundation for everything Waite Endurance would become.

A New Chapter: The Birth of Waite Endurance

In 2013, the coaching business welcomed its most pivotal addition: Coach Kathy Waite. With her, came a new energy, broader expertise, and a powerful ability to connect emotionally with athletes—balancing Cody’s analytical, data-driven approach with deep personal insight and support.

The business name changed to Waite Endurance, reflecting not just a shared passion, but a shared mission:
WE are your coaches. WE help you achieve.

Together, Cody and Kathy created a coaching experience rooted in both performance and personal connection—an approach that continues to define the Waite Endurance philosophy today.

WE Development: A New Generation Takes the Lead

In 2018, Waite Endurance experienced its next major turning point: the creation of the WE Development junior MTB racing program.

After stepping into a coaching role with their local NICA high school mountain bike team—and leading the young riders to a Colorado state championship—the need for an advanced pathway for talented junior athletes became clear. Cody and Kathy stepped up and built it.

The WE Development program quickly grew into a nationally recognized junior XCO development team, providing young riders with structured training, racing opportunities, mentorship, and high-level coaching. It has since become one of the primary pillars of the business.

To devote full focus to this rapidly growing program—and to the increasing demand for masters coaching and off-road endurance training—Cody and Kathy made a major decision: in 2020, they sold Sessions:6 Sport Performance to pour their energy into WE Development and the expanding coaching landscape.

Today, with 10 National Championships under its belt, the program continues to thrive as a USA Cycling Center of Excellence, producing strong riders, confident young adults, and unforgettable experiences on trails across the country.

A Journey of Growth, Community, and Endless Pedal Strokes

From multi-sport coaching to gym ownership to junior development to masters off-road endurance coaching, Waite Endurance has continually reinvented itself to meet the needs of the athletes and communities it serves.

Through it all, one constant has remained:
the belief that growth happens when passion meets purpose—and when coaches truly care.

Over the past 20 years, the Waite Endurance community has shared thousands of training hours, hundreds of race days, countless highs and lows, and immeasurable moments of progress. We’ve grown through challenge and celebrated success. We’ve built something meaningful—together.

20 Years of Memories

To celebrate this milestone, we’ve opened the archives and pulled together a collection of images spanning the last two decades — photos from early EPC Trainer Series sessions, gym days at Sessions:6, WE Development races across the country, gravel finish lines, mountain summits, and quiet training moments that remind us why we love this sport.

We hope you enjoy flipping through these memories with us. Every face, every ride, every season tells a piece of the story.

Here’s to the Next 20 Years

What a ride the last two decades have been. And yet, it feels like we’re just shifting into a new gear.

Thank you—for training with us, trusting us, laughing with us, sweating with us, and sharing this journey. Whether you’ve been here since the beginning or joined somewhere along the trail, you’ve helped make Waite Endurance what it is today.

Here’s to keeping the pedals turning, the wheels rolling, and the adventure unfolding.
We can’t wait to see where the next 20 years take us.
