Episode 40: Recovery Weeks

Training + Recovery = Adaptation

While training hard and building fatigue gets you all the ‘kudos’ and ‘likes’, it’s recovering where we get faster. The harder you train, the harder you must recover to make the gains you desire. In this episode, we’re breaking down the ‘Recovery Week’.

We’re into week 4 of our Season Salvation Plan, which happens to be a recovery week following the first block of aerobic endurance training. Everything from Why do we need recovery weeks, Who needs recovery weeks, and How to execute recovery weeks is discussed in this week’s show.

Before the recovery discussion, we have special guest, 2019 15-16 Junior Women’s XC & STXC Mountain Bike National Champion, Sofia Forney, on the show as we debrief our own endurance training block experience where we traveled across the Pacific Northwest accumulating miles & training fatigue. Now we are ready for a recovery week ourselves; listen in to learn how we do it.

Join us for our newest training plan: 2020 Season Salvation!

We’re beginning June 15th (but you can join us whenever you’re ready) to re-build your fitness for the second half of 2020. We’ll be podcasting our way through a 12-week building of fitness for a (hopeful) late-summer/fall racing season. Train right along with us and learn how we do things to reach a second peak of fitness for the year.

*** DISCOUNT ALERT ***

We finish things off by offering our listeners a 50% discount on the 2020 Season Salvation Plan, bringing the cost down to just $48 for the 12-weeks of training, podcasting instruction & insights, motivation, accountability and, if nothing else, enjoyment on the bike through the entire summer… all for just $4 a week… less than a premium coffee!
