Episode 68: Optimizing Your 2022 Season

With the new year in sight as we reach the end of the ‘off-season’, it is now ‘planning season’.

It’s time to begin registering for your target events, laying out your training progressions, dialing in your anticipated training loads and above all… getting the timing right!

In this episode, we share our insights on how to best plan and optimize your season ahead using Training Peaks to ensure you set yourself up for the best chance of success in 2022. As the quote goes: “Fail to Plan, then Plan to Fail”.

We unwrap three important planning steps that many athletes and often coaches fail to address with their athletes:

  1. Setting up your Annual Training Plan (macro-level planning)
  2. Identifying your optimal weekly training loads/progressions (meso-level)
  3. Adjusting daily workouts to meet your meso & macro level targets and ATP (micro-level)

This exact process is what we do for our coached athletes within our WE Development MTB Team and offer to our adult athletes. We hope we share useful insights that can help you plan and optimize your season so as to lead to a peak performance on event day!
